Tile Compared to Carpet

A friend of mine decided to put tile in his newly built home, and I asked him where the carpet was. He said that carpet was a thing of the past and tile was in style with new homes that are built in this time era. Putting tile all over your home or newly built home has several advantages compared to carpet. In this article I will discuss the advantages of putting tile in your home compared to carpet or vinyl flooring, and I will discuss the savings that tile can provide for a home.

The advantages of tile flooring compared to carpet in a home are many, but I would like to start out with the low maintenance tile flooring requires. Tile will always smell fresh every time it is swept and mopped with some floor cleaner. The dirt and dust is easy to spot and easy to clean up, even a spill is easy to clean up compared to soaking carpet. Once there is a spill in carpet especially beer or soda the stain penetrates the carpet and the foam underneath it, but with tile you can pick up and mop the whole spill at it's source with no problems or residue left behind. Also tile never breaks it's very hard to break or tear, but carpet can tear very easily with the wrong kind of shoes or just walking to much on it. Tile is meant to stand tough hits, but it can crack with the right amount of force.

The savings tile provides compared to carpet are tremendous, because carpet always requires shampooing and care but tile requires very little care or cleaning. Tile is more expensive to buy but in the long run it will save you money, and your house will never smell stale it will always smell fresh. Tile always smells fresh when cleaned with floor cleaner, because tile does not soak up odors compared to carpet.
