Tim Russert, moderator of 'Meet the Press' on NBC, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack June 13 at the age of 58. Many had grown to love the commentation that this man brought to political arguments and discussion.

As an avid daily watcher of the popular 'Today' show on NBC, I have always enjoyed Tim's input into political and social discussions. According to Wikipedia.org, Tim was a huge sports fan, especially of the National Football League's Buffalo Bills.

Tim Russert brought humor into political commentary by offering a kind manner while presenting sometimes heated and controversial topics. Viewers were sure to have a smile on their face throughout most of his programs as he eased politicians and media experts alike, into tense discussions without creating a hostile environment.

Tim recently wrote a famous book titled, "Big Russ and Me", which recounts his life growing up and the stories and values his father instilled in him. The interviews that were shown promoting the book were thoughtful and touching seeing the interaction between Tim Russert and his father.

Tim paved a legacy for himself by asking the questions that needed to be asked, yet being respectful of people's time and reputation. Many in the industry have held Tim Russert in high respect for bringing forth the passionate search for the truth in news.

Co-workers at NBC were shaken by the news of Tim's tragic death. According to Wikipedia.org, Brian Williams broke down while speaking about his good friend and his sudden departure.

Tim Russert has and will continue to be a household favorite in political media, for having brought to the public a new view on news and political commentary. With his friendly demeanor, and his at times goofy personality, he will sorely missed especially within the media industry.

Surviving are his wife Maureen Orth, and son Luke, who recently graduated from Boston College according to Wikipedia.org. This is sure to be an extremely difficult time for his family and friends and I send to them my love and prayers as they experience the sudden loss of a great man, loving husband, adoring father, and a faithful servant of the people.

Thanks for sharing this. Glad to see it and read your take on his passing.

PS: I want to add that I found Tim to be respectful of his guests, like your article pointed out. He asked what needed to be asked of his guests--but did so in a polite manner that is a rarity today. He was not rude, from what I saw of him and his program...he could have taught some of the loud- in-your-face-talking-heads-taken-with-themselves CLOWNS that dominate our air waves a thing or to.

Tim was a rarity in today's media. He had opinions, but he kept them out of his jounalism. It didn't matter where in the spectrum his guests fell, they had better be prepared because this was a man who played fast pitch. There weren't going to be any easy questions from Mr. Russert. We're all going to be a little less well informed because of his passing.

This is an incredible shock. I can barely imagine how his friends and loved ones feel today. He was a wonderful man and this is a huge loss to all who enjoyed listening to and watching him!
