Tim Tebow for the Heisman

Florida's Stud Quarterback is the Most Gritty, Deserving Player in All of College Football

I'll start this article out by saying I'm not a Florida Gators fan. I'm a Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. I'm not smitten on Tim Tebow like the rest of the country. I don't want to see Florida win ANOTHER national championship.

With all that being said Tim Tebow showed this weekend that he is the best player in college football bar none. After suffering a concussion two weeks ago when his head hit the knee of one of his offensive lineman after getting hit by Kentucky's defensive end, speculation circled around all week about him not being able to play against LSU in one of the most anticipated games of the year. News attention around his head seemed to pop up more than President Obama's Nobel Prize victory.

What makes him the best player and most game changing player in the country was stated by some of the ESPN analysts over the week. I remember one quote in particular, "If Tim Tebow plays, Florida wins. If he doesn't I'll take LSU." Think about that for a minute. First off he plays in the toughest conference in the NCAA hands down and plays the hardest position on the football field. There are maybe three other teams in the country that could beat LSU away at night, Texas, Alabama, and USC. That's it. Most analysts would take LSU in all of those games regardless of who is starting at quarterback. Florida doesn't win without Tim Tebow, it simply does not. If Florida can go undefeated it's on the shoulders of their star quarterback.

People want a stand out moment? Well Florida is only 5-0 and still has plenty of games and big games left to play and he'll have ample opportunities to make that Heisman moment play where he just locks it up. But coming back from a concussion, to play away at night against LSU, to lead his team to a knock 'em around victory against another beast of the South East, well that's Heisman enough for me.
