Tim Urban on American Idol 2010: Top 7 Performance 4/20/2010

Tonight on American Idol, Tim Urban was still standing after last week's American Idol fans voted off Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia.

Looking back on Tim's performances, this is what we have seen so far:

2/24 - The boys performances: Round I

Tim sang 'Apologize' by One Republic. I thought it was a weak performance, and the wrong song and I rated him a 12.

3/2 - The boy's performances: Round II

The following week, Tim sang, "Come on Get Higher" by Matt Nathanson, and I voted him an 8 for his Karaoke performance.

3/10 - The boys performances: Round III

That week Tim sang Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" and for the first time, I saw Tim's potential. I rated him a 2 with a wow performance.

3/16 - Top 12 - Stones

Tim performed "Under my Thumb" and he shook up the song a bit, reminiscent of Bob Marley. I thought his performance was kind of weird, but he tried to be different. I rated him a 6.

3/23 - Top 11 - Top 100 Billboard hits

Tim sang, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen. He slid across the stage and I thought his performance was more stage theatrics than star powered singing.

3/30 - Top 10: Soul and R&B

Tim sang,' Sweet Love' by Anita Baker. It was a risk to sing the Anita Baker song, but his performance was weak. I voted him a 10 and I'm not sure how Teflon Tim skated on by.

4/6 - Top 9: Beatles songs

Tim performed, "All My Loving" and I gave him a 5 for his performance

4/13 - Top 8 Performances: Elvis songs

Tim performed "Can't Help Falling in Love With You," and I gave him a 5 out of 8 for his performance last week too.

4/20/2010 - Tonight the theme was songs of Inspiration, and Alicia Keys was the Idol Mentor

Tim performed, 'Better Days' by the Goo Goo Dolls .

Tim sang and played his guitar and it was an okay performance but not very inspiring. I fear Tim may slide on out the door next week.

Randy said, 'This was an interesting song choice, but it was just kind of okay, good karaoke, and it just sounded ok.' Ellen DeGeneres said,"You're like the soup of the day, and I have liked your soup before, but today I didn't like the soup." Kara said, "You found your lane and you're in it. I think this is where you belong but it wasn't your best performance." Simon said, If this was the first time we saw you we would be quite impressed, but I'm finding it quite difficult to believe this. It might have been a step - you have improved over the weeks but it was a little bit of a letdown." My vote for Tim tonight - 7
