Timberline Ski Resort in West Virginia: A Review

Pretty Good Ski Resort, Great Value

Timberline Ski Resort in West Virginia is located in the northern most part of West Virginia, right on the Maryland Border. Timberline is a beautiful area located in the Canaan Valley. Timberline Ski Resort features great lodging for all budgets, good local restaurants, and great skiing and snowboarding. So what are the best and worst things about Timberline Ski Resort:

Great Lodging

Whether you would like to stay in a small condominium, or a slope side house, Timberline Ski Resort has something for you. The Condo's are nicely equipped and feature full kitchens so that you can cook your meals while staying at the resort. I had the good fortune of staying in a ski in ski out house right on the slopes (the one with the jacuzzi on the deck) and it was magnificent. Our house slept 10 people, and we all had more than enough room to stretch out and relax. There are many houses at Timberline Ski Resort that allow you to ski right off your back porch, and I would highly suggest staying in one of these houses. You can find rentals for Timberline Ski Resort West Virginia at TimberlineRealty.com.

Good Local Restaurants

There are not a whole lot of restaurants in the Davis, West Virginia area but the few they have are worth you stopping at. My personal favorite was the Golden Achor. The Golden Anchor featured has some great seafood. Also located at Timberline Ski Resort is the Fireside grill. The Fireside had a decent menu and the food was good. We enjoyed our hamburger and french fries enough to go back a second time. Other restaurants for your consideration in Davis and the Canaan Valley Area include Mamma G's Pizzeria, and the Bright Morning Inn.

Great Skiing and Snowboarding

Skiing on the east coast can often lead to disappointment if you have ever been to ski out west. Timberline Ski Resort is no disappointment. One of the longest trails on the east coast "The Salamander", and several double black diamonds are all found at the Timberline Ski Resort West Virginia. Due to the altitude of the resort snow is plentiful all the way into April, and the scenery is truly stunning from the tops of the chair lifts.

Great Packages

Check out Timberlineresort.com for great skiing packages that include lodging and lift tickets. There is something for every budget at Timberline Ski Resort. If you really want to save some money, you can find some great weekend deals on late season skiing at Timberline Ski Resort West Virginia.

The Worst thing about the Timberline Ski Resort West Virginia is its accessibility. This ski resort can be down right treacherous to reach in winter weather. If there is any snow or ice on the road going up or down the mountain becomes difficult. Grocery stores and gas stations are sparse in the local area, so make sure you bring your own food or plan on spending a little more at one of the small local gas stations. All in all there is not a lot of bad things to say about the the Timberline Ski Resort, or the local area of Davis and Canaan Valley.

The Timberline Ski Resort West Virginia is a great place for skiing on the east coast. Visit the beautiful Canaan Valley for your next ski trip, you won't be disappointed.

I LOVE skiing! Great article - I've never been skiing at a "real" resort before. We don't have mountains in Minnesota.

This sounds like a great place, particularly the ski-in feature. Writing a couple of skiing articles myself right now. You might want to check out the Call for Content here on AC. That's what prompted me. Looking forward to winter. With all the cold weather this year, I think it's going to be a prime season.
