Time

Ali Canary
The clock in the hallway

Has stopped telling me the time.

The clock can still tell time

But it has stopped

Telling

Me.

Time

Is all I have, now

But what I have passes so quickly

I haven't much of anything.

The last time I saw you

Was the last time you struck me.

You struck once

The clock struck, too

The clock struck two

That was the last time

For both of you

Now neither of you

Will be telling me

The time.

Although I don't know the specifics of the situation, this one really resonated with me. I've been thinking plenty about time, loss and the passing of time these days.

    Very personal.

Brilliantly constructed, and I too saw that this was the end of a bad time. I'm grateful you are no longer being struck.

Great! I interpreted this the same way Allene did. Allene said it all so well, I don't know what to add.
