Time
Why can I not find it
I once was young and loved life true
But now am old and scared of you
Time was on my side years ago
I could do everything I wanted to
Now it slides by quickly each day
Night falls and fears of dying come into to play
I fear the night when demons roam
Why is it always when I am alone
I fear the reaper coming my way
Why can't I live forever and a day
I wish hard that immortal beings were real
I want to live forever that's the deal
No I don't need to be young and beautiful
Just alive and loving the light
Time is a joker
He moves to quick
Playing the joke
In the end you are usually sick
The pain of death is what I fear
I want to live forever here
No matter if there is a heaven or hell
I just want to stay right here in this world
I don't seek heaven or hell at all
Just the life I have that is enough for me
Please reaper stay away
Keep a distance for longer
I hope you understand
I have no need be your friend
Because if I embrace you
Then it will be my end.

Post a CommentYour poem contained two special insights for me. One - that night brings fears of death. Since I now have a couple of medical conditions and take some reasonably potent medications, I feel very bad many nights, tossing and turning, with RLS, and wonder how long I will live. Two - you mention wanting to remain on the earth. It's funny how many people (not isolating you) talk about going to heaven when they die, when they want to live on earth. Scriptures point to earth! "The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth."
