I've just learned that ABC News has told their journalists to refrain from wearing any American flag pins on their clothing. And, if that isn't ridiculous enough, they're also banning red, white and blue ribbons.
ABC spokesman, Jerry Schneider says he fears that the appearance of a flag on a journalist's clothing places him (or her) in danger because it's advocating a governmental symbol overseas. In other words, ABC journalists are supposed to appear neutral regarding their country.
For years, the media has grown progressively liberal, but this is just not American! Displaying a flag on your clothing, car, or home is simply saying you are an American---that you're proud of your country.
Is this America? Have we degraded ourselves down this far as a country? Have we become a nation of wimps, afraid of what others think of us?
There was a time when Americans took honor and pride in living a free country. They were willing to lay down their lives to keep that freedom, not only for themselves, but also for their children and grandchildren, as well as descendants yet to come.
This is NOT the America from which I grew up in the 1960s. Back then, folks in my community were proud to wave their flags---to wear red, white and blue, not just on the Fourth of July, but anytime we felt patriotic.
Are we so afraid of offending others that we've forgotten who we are? Are we so afraid of being "politically correct" we've lost all sense of values?
We are one nation under God. That's right---under God. And if anyone is offended by that, then go move to a country that was not founded for religious purposes.
Do we need another 9-11 to wake us up? I find it sad that it took a national tragedy for Americans to dust of their flags so they could fly them from their front porches, windows, cars, etc. However, it wasn't long after the horror of 9-11 that life began to return to normal. One by one, most of the American flags we saw waving proudly in our neighborhoods were taken down.
We also have forgotten our worst enemy---terrorism. Its not global warning, as Mr. Al Gore would have you to believe. Its terrorism.
I hope all Americans who are also outraged to join me in boycotting ABC. There isn't much that's decent to see on the network (as well as the other two liberal networks of NBC and CBS) anyway---not much to lose, as the selections of programming continues to focus on themes such as sexual deviance and violence, portraying a progressivelly decadent culture.
No more, does ABC stand for the American Broadcasting Company---It's now the Anti-American Broadcasting Company.

Post a CommentWhere did they think this is a neutral stand. What happened to patroitism and individual rights? In my opinion they not only need to have their station b oycotted by all individuals who are proud to be American, but there should also be demonstrations at all their facilities. What is next - no support for the troops? Besides since when did they ever become neutral? Please tell me how they avoid all politicals issues or taking sides in any of these issues. Since they want to be neutral maybe they should just take their company to a neutral country (if they can find one).
WE AS FANS OF THE SOAPS ARE STANDING UP FOR WHAT WE BELEIVE WE DO NOT WANT ABC/DISNEY TO CANCELL THE SOAPS THAT IS THE AMERICAN WAY
IT WOULD BE A SAD DAY WHEN PEOPLE ARE WORRIED ABOUT WARERINGTHE AMERICAN FLAG ABC SHOULD LEAVE IT UP TO THE PEOPLE
We will not buy any product advertised on abc or it's affiliates due to no American Flag pins being allowed to be worn !!!!!!
I think it is more of a safety issue. Just because you aren't wearing a flag doesn't mean you aren't American. I lived overseas and when my school traveled for sports games and such we were told not to flaunt out nationality. That is no reason to boycott ABC, unless ABC is promoting the flags of other nationalities. There is so much Anti-Americanism in the world that ABC simply just feels the need to protect its employees from being kidnapped or killed.
I learned of this today and just published my own article on the subject, which lead me to yours. Well done, Venice.
Granted, refraining from watching anything on these networks will make them take notice, but we need to show what being a US American is other than flag waving. We are losing sight of what this country was founded upon, so we should stand up for our beliefs.
I'm not quite sure I understand... I used to live overseas in Asia and I never saw anything dealing with ABC over there... why would it make a difference anyways? Is the broadcasting station American? It's not like they are CNN or anything.
