Time for a Change? How About a New Hairdresser?

Janice Meyer
Any kind of change is often a good thing. If you have had the same beautician cut and style your hair for several years, maybe a change would give you a whole new perspective as to how you look, and possibly a new hair style and a new look. Even though you ask the new hairdresser to keep your same style, she will probably give a different slant to it in some way.

Don't worry about what your present hairdresser will think. If she/he asks you why you decided to change, tell her/him you thought a change might be good, and that she has done nothing wrong. If she/he excels in this chosen field, they will probably have more clients than they can handle at busy times.

I decided to try another hairdresser because the lady who regularly cut and styled my hair was gone, and later I found that she was off on her honey moon. I desperately needed a hair cut, so I picked a new hairdresser at random. I told her I did not want a new style, just a trim to make my 'do' look neater, as it was getting out of control. She didn't change the style, but my hair seems to lay much nicer without sticking out behind my ears, and it tends to fit my features better. It is really difficult to explain; even though it is the same style, it is different.

Fine hair is rather difficult to cut, especially if you want it to have a 'full' look. You have probably heard the expression, "less is more," well that is how mine feels and looks after my new cut by a new hairdresser. She cut off less, but my fine, straight hair seems to be more full and with more body. I do not have to use my styling wand as I did before, although she cut off only a small amount.

There are many excellent hairdressers to be found in any local, but each one has her own styling techniques and small quirks that make her cuts and styles unique. That is why we do not always like a specific stylist because her personal technique does not work for us. We are lucky if we find a stylist that we feel does a perfect job on our hair. Of course, some are recommended by friends or relatives, but that is not a guarantee that we will like their work. Often, we find that random selection works much better for us.

So, take a walk on the exotic side, choose a new hairdresser; you may discover a new you.
