Time to Clay in Nashua, New Hampshire: Paint-Your-Own Pottery Place Proves to Be a Relaxing Day or Night Out
Nashua, NH 03060
United States of America
Upon entering Time to Clay you notice the high ceilings and the bright paint colors surrounding you. The ambiance immediately draws you in. Finished pottery pieces are all around you and you can't help but pick them up and wonder how someone could have done such an amazing job. This alone makes you want to sit down and begin your work.
There are displays of unfinished pottery pieces on shelves that you can choose from. You can choose to paint as many pieces as you want in one sitting and the prices of each pottery piece is written on the bottom, ranging from approximately $4.00 to $20.00.
My piece of sound advice, though, is to choose one, maybe two pieces tops. The first time I went to Time to Clay, I painted a football bank and two small Christmas tree ornaments and it took me approximately three hours to complete due not only to the fact that you have to paint and take ease of the small crevices, etc. in your piece, but the simple fact that you are perhaps with a friend or a group of friends and take breaks here and there for good conversation.
If it is your first time at Time to Clay, or even if you want a refresher, an employee will take you over to the paint selections to show you what they have to offer. They advise that you take a little at a time, but that you use a good amount of each color on your pottery piece as the paint will dry lighter if you do not use two or three coats.
You place your paint on a paper plate and take it to the table you have selected to work at. I highly suggest that you write the number corresponding to each paint color that you have used next to the paint on your plate, otherwise you may just forget the number of the paint. Each paint has it's number on the top of it's cap so if it's written down, you can't mistaken one shade of color for another.
Located conveniently on Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua, New Hampshire, Time to Clay opens at 10:00 (12:00 on Sunday's), and the closing time's vary from 5:00 until 9:00. The Tuesday and Thursday Ladies Night's are a great incentive to give it a go. I paid $4.00 plus the cost of my pottery piece on a Ladies Night Out, saving approximately half the price. Time to Clay also offers workshops for both adults and children alike, and they offer classes for Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts to earn badges as well.
Time to Clay was such a great time. I found it to be extremely relaxing and a great alternative to try with your friends instead of the movies, for example, where your conversation would be extremely limited. The prices are reasonable, and as long as they are open, you can stay for as long as you'd like. I just moved to Southern, New Hampshire two months ago, and I've been to Time to Clay twice. I plan on returning shortly for another go. If you'd like more information, take a look at their website.
