Time to Juice

Okay, I have a new years resolution: I will juice. Preparing for a colonic, I told a friend about it and she just about had a conniption. She was convinced I would come out of it with a punctured intestine.
Anyway as I researched the incidence of that, I found that there are things the patient has to do to prepare the intestine and the mind for the colonic.

A raw juice fast is recommended.

So I go to the local Meijer and load up on all of the fresh greens I can. I stopped by Baum's health food store on Rt. 30 in Hobart, Indiana for frozen wheat grass squares - kind of pricey but wheat grass is excellent for health and energy.

Time to juice. I assemble everything and push all of those greens and a whole lemon - rind and all into the juicer. Bad move. Take the rind off. Along with the fresh Aloe Vera leaf it made it bitter. I pushed more apples, a beet, some ginger, yucca root, sweet potato and carrots into the mix and it became palatable again.

I have more than enough to last a few days. However, after this session of juicing, my future sessions are fuzzy. All of that produce was very expensive. I guess if I balance what I spend on non-healthy food, cigarettes, bottles of this or that, $26 is not that much to spend on good nutrition for myself and my children. We will see.
