Keep a planner or some kind of organizer on you at all times. Schedule your main priorities a month in advance, or more if need be. Be sure to know when exactly you have study groups, work and extra classes or labs. Doing this will give you a basic idea of when and where you need to be at any given time. Also make sure you know when special events you plan to attend are going on so you can plan around them, you don't want to completely ignore your social life!
Working is a very important part of your life as a student, after all you have to find a way to pay back all those loans right? So see if you can work for an individual store owner or find a place that is flexible so you can work on days that correspond to your set schedule. Obviously you can't work during a Micro-Biology class so make sure your job fits into your School life.
Don't just totally miss out on all the fun things college has to offer by being a hard working stiff, you need to relax too! Be sure to schedule some "me" time into your life. Parties are great and can be good for socializing with other students, but don't let them run your life. Many students end up failing to achieve their goals due to too much partying and so you should be wary not to fall into these traps.
"Me" time can also be spent away from others. You may need some time away from your peers in order to relax, so make sure you have some time set aside to just be alone. Read, jog, take a nap, whatever just take some time to be alone. Also this may be a good time to work on some extra studying, so make sure to get full usage of this time.
Sleep, ah yes don't we all wish we had more of it this precious commodity, yet most people, especially students don't get enough of it. Try to get as much rest as possible, and go to bed at a decent time. It's a proven fact that for each hour you sleep before midnight you actually rest twice as good, and therefore it's like getting twice the sleep. So if you head to bed at 11 and have to get up at 6 that's 7 hours of sleep, but the hour before midnight feels like 2 to your body, so it's like getting your full 8 hours! Also staying up late and cramming for exams is never a good idea, it just means that you'll be tired for the upcoming test, and shows that you have not managed your time well at all.
So just try your best to keep a good schedule, be on time and make sure to keep up with appointments. College life is hard but keeping a neat and tidy list of activities and events for at least one month in advance will make life so much easier! So get to it, go on and get your life organized then take a well deserved nap, if you have time!
