Reduce baby wipe usage: One way you can save money on baby wipes is to buy a package of baby washcloths and use You can use baby wipes for babies bottom, for their faces, and for your other kids too. Use them in place of paper towels at dinner and save money on those too. Then when you're done with the washcloth, simply throw it in the wash.
A baby washcloth is also a lot warmer on babies bottoms than a baby wipe is.
Make snack baggies for the kids: Buy some of those half sized zip lock baggies and make some portion sized snacks for the kids. Spend a bit of time portioning out veggies, crackers, and fruit so your kids can just grab one out for an afterschool snack.
In addition I have a friend who was sick and was having a hard time getting up to fix food for her little ones; also the smell of food was making her sick. Portion sized snack baggies are perfect for occasions such as that.
Mix formula ahead of time: A quick and easy time saver when you have an infant who is on formula is to mix it ahead of time. When you get up in the morning make several bottles and put them in the fridge. Or, so you don't have so many dishes, get a pitcher and mix the formula into that. Then it's only a small matter of warming it up.
Don't buy your baby too many clothes: So many people get caught up in buying clothes for their baby. Well, your baby doesn't really need a lot of clothes. I find that with our kids, I end up with a ton of clothes and they end up not wearing most of them. So, some ideas are to use hand me downs, shop at thrift stores, or just throw the ones they just wore in the wash.
I normally end up just washing the few outfits my baby uses over and over again. It helps save on drawer space too. Plus, kids grow out of stuff so quickly it makes sense not to have a ton of clothes taking up space.
No more paper towels: Yeah right, you're thinking. Well I have done it. I went six months without buying paper towels. I used dish towels and baby washcloths for the kids. It worked out pretty good and I saved the money I would have spent on paper towels.
Paper plates and plastic silverware: Paper plates and plastic silverware will save you lots of time with the dishes, but you will sacrifice the money. I went through a time when we needed the money so I sacrificed the time, but there has come a time when using the paper and plastic has made my life ten times easier. This is especially handy if (like me) you don't have a dishwasher.
Hopefully some of these tips will help to make the life of a busy mom a little bit easier.
