Time to Get Rid of the EPA

Lorraine Yapps Cohen

The lights went out in vast regions of Southern California on September 8. A freak East Coast snow storm left millions without power October 29. Some Connecticut customers, however, were restored power today, nearly twelve days later. In both cases, the EPA can be cited as the initial and continuing cause of the power outages, respectively.

EPA = guilty
We tend to blame the weather and other natural forces for our power troubles. But, a look beyond the obvious to the obviously guilty party reveals the EPA. The overreaching government agency is hell bent on saving the planet at the expense of the people living on it. Now, the EPA targets the reliable supply of electricity as the means of preserving the environment it serves.

EPA = cover-up
The EPA has been caught red-handed in the suppression of documents that would have raised reliability issues regarding electricity. In its attempts to kill coal-fired plants, EPA's regulations strangle any reliable sources from producing reliable supply. The EPA acknowledged electric reliability issues but covered it up, according to a Wall Street Journal article. Enter the EPA into the ranks of political gangsters.

EPA = ruination
Here's a government agency conducting a cover-up, a seemingly weekly event issued by those in control. Besides covering up, the EPA's overreach debilitates individuals and businesses nationwide. Examples abound:

George Hahn lost his livelihood, home and business because the EPA called worm poop a pesticide rather than the worm poop that it is.

Americans are denied the use of incandescent lights, with toxic mercury-containing bulbs as the required alternatives.

Five businesses leave California every week for non-compliance with impossible environmental rules, regulations, and restrictions.

Energy is outlawed in America because the EPA wants nobody finding, producing, and using it here.

Good GOP idea
Newt Gingrich
was the first and only GOP candidate to suggest ridding the country of its tyranny by ridding the country of the EPA. "Out with the EPA," he said. What a kick-start for the country economically! And what a good way to restore electricity on demand, something some Americans have been without for some time for no good reason.

But Gingrich, like all good GOP candidates, has been tainted by the irrelevant nonsense the mainstream media manages to dredge up. Now that he's on the rise again amid the others who have been trashed, Gingrich, again, is the target for slurs. A self declared change agent, Gingrich would dissolve the EPA to a harmless speck of dust despite public discussions of his marital relationships.

EPA = unreliable electricity
It would be one thing if liberals showed better bedroom behavior than that of GOP candidates they seek to take down. It's another thing to ignore the good GOP ideas for bringing America back on its feet. Besides, those poor Connecticut folks deserve some reliable electricity, something they've been without, time and again. They will remember who brought their electricity back when it comes time for their 2012 vote.

EPA = nothing good
Better yet, get rid of the EPA, Gingrich or not, snowstorms or sunny weather, and whether the polar ice caps get thicker or thinner. Who needs an organization that has nothing better to do than to think up ways for everybody else to do worse.

EPA = carbon trading
If the EPA is not in the business of making business tougher for every American, I don't know what business they're in. Oh, yes. They're in the business of creating a market for carbon, the commodity that nobody wants. EPA cronies, however, make money from carbon trading, which turns out to be a lucrative business that doesn't give a rat's derriere about the air. And here, you thought the EPA keeps the environment clean.

EPA = out
Think again, naïve America! Let's get the overreaching, out-of-touch, over-zealous, self-serving EPA out of our hair, because it's not about the air. It's about and getting America going again. And getting electricity once again at the flip of a switch.

    Okay, some rules the EPA enforces are good. BUT right now, with the economy tilting further south, creating new obstacles for business is not an option that will help. We really need to streamline the government and rebuild it piece by piece. There are so many antiquated laws on books, budget sucking branches of the government and foolish bills to spend hard earned cash that you'd need to have a team (OMG another arm of the feds) do a line by line review of all expenditures, eliminating those with little beneficial purpose.. or those that are excessive...such as the retirement plan for Congress.

    I'm against government by huge unknowable bureacracy. Whereever you look there are redundancies and duplication,a hydra-headed monster that devours us. Thanks 4 shining light into one dark corner.

    Anyone favoring "limiting the EPA" is not recognizing the egregious overstep of its powers already. The EPA is out of control. And part of the serious problems this nation faces right now.

    I think I'm more on the side of reforming the EPA and limiting the scope of its responsibilities and its regulatory power. The agency itself has the potential to do good things if it had the proper mission and management. Great article, thanks!

    Not sure on how to respond to Robert as I didn't understand his point and for Mike who thinks the EPA is not evil, well, you may be right. You may be right that it is not evil, but it certainly has gone way overboard in expanding its unelected power toward Americans. In the past, the EPA's mission statement was to protect the environment however not at the expense of our fragile economy. Today, its mission is to stop all manufacturing and to fine anyone who dares to manufacture virtually anything. Why, so they can grow their bureacracy. From humble beginnings to a workforce of over 17,000 people they need new and exciting issues to resolve yet they forget to enforce the old ones since there is no more money in it for them in their quest to expand their empire. If you want to call that evil, then yes, they are evil as many millions of people are hurt beyond belief by these demogods masquerading as public servants there to keep you safe from everything that is bad. Rick Perry wants to limit the EPA's authority which is the right thing to do or else everything you buy here in this country will be from somewhere else.

    I'm sure there is some sort of "therapy" to convince you that after all, Big Brother really does Love you! I'm certain the Radical Democrats are working on getting you to see "Reason" (whatever fool thing they believe). A person like you who writes critical articles is obviously not happy and Big Brother just wants everyone to be happy! Hmmm?

    well written - thank you
