Time Saving Hairstyling Tips

When I'm in a rush to get ready in the morning or going out after a busy day, dealing with a bad hair day is the last thing on my mind. Need to style your hair on the fly? Use some special techniques and hair products to create that picture-perfect style without the fuss. Your stylist at the salon probably spends about an hour styling your hair, but you don't need that much time to get super-sleek, glossy, lustrous, or high-volume hair. Use some of these time-saving hairstyle tips to create that perfect coif with ease:

Speed Up Drying Time with a Blow Dryer Attachment

Use an attachment on the blow dryer. A hair dryer can speed up drying time but you can speed up the drying process even further by sectioning out your hair into two-inch to three-inch sections and then drying each section with a diffuser attachment on the dryer. An attachment helps to focus the heat on only a few inches of hair at a time and can help to speed up the drying process considerably.

Apply Shine Serum Before You Dry

If you want your hair to have a sleek, glossy finish, run some shine serum through damp hair and then blow dry it out with the help of a paddled brush. It's really easy to overdo the shine serum when you apply it to dry hair, so make sure your hair is still wet when you apply it. Just a dime size or quarter size of this serum is all you need to create that glossy look in a flash. Once the serum's in your hair, blow dry on the highest heat setting to create a sleek, chic, and glossy look.

Stick with the Updo

A classic French twist, scrunching hair up in a bun or gathering hair up in a super-high ponytail are a few time-saving hairstyles that can look plenty chic and glamorous day and night. Use a hair straightening tool to smooth out your strands for the ponytail, but avoid it if you're trying to wrap hair in a bun or create a French twist -- it will be much easier to style your hair when it's not super straight.

Sleep with Rollers in Your Hair

If you want to wake up with a head full of curls, do things the old-fashioned way and sleep with your hair wrapped in rollers. Spritz lightly with a setting spray then remove the rollers the following day. Comb out hair with your fingers or a wide-toothed comb before styling.
