Time is on My Side

A man-made invention and yet
We scramble to it's beck and call.
A tool that's seen the rise and fall
of men, countries, and pockets to let.
We value it and despise the same,
turning our days into synchronized parts
to succeed and stay in our game.
Time never seems to match our hearts.

Morning and nights are geared to its tune
as we stretch, seize or ignore this tool;
Those who miss-manage, we consider the fool,
all of our deadlines---coming too soon.
So it continues, this tool of the devil,
that clocks my life and ends all my revel.
