Time Team's America Bryan Haley - a Short Biography
Haley Brings Computer Background to PBS Reality Show
Time Team
Haley grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky following his high school graduation. He went through a variety of majors before he attended a field school in Belize studying Mayan caves and decided to pursue a career in archaeology. Following his graduation from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology (with a minor in Computer Science) in 1999 Haley went to the University of Mississippi to further his education and graduated in 2002 with a Master's degree in Archaeology.
Haley currently works as a research associate and staff archaeologist for the University of Mississippi. He has had several articles published and also contributed to a book that discusses remote sensing in depth. In addition to the digs he has done with Time Team America he has also worked at Xunantunich in Belize and Idalion in Cyprus. (2)
In addition to his vast work as an archaeologist Haley is an experienced guitar player and old-school gamer. While he has contributed to many successful campaigns in games such as Vampire, Mage and Dungeons and Dragons he tends to get frustrated by the limitations his characters have as well as ill-timed bad dice rolls. His common cry of "I'm not just powerful enough!" has resonated through many a gaming session in his hometown of Lexington. (4) He also recently got married and lives in Oxford, Mississippi with his wife Jessica.

4 - Personal anecdotes shared by the author.'s "players" try to discover new information on past events at each dig by conducting excavations. In the first episode of the series, the crew traveled to Roanoke Island off the coast of North Carolina to gather information about one of the first colonial settlements in America. In the second episode of the series Time Team traveled to Topper, South Carolina to gather information about some of the first settlers in America that may have been there before those who lived in Clovis, New Mexico over 13,000 years ago. He specializes in geophysics, which is the study of the Earth by observation of its physical properties, as well as remote sensing, which is a tool that helps archaeologists gather more information than a traditional excavation would reveal.
