Time Ticks By

Remembrance of Time Lost

April Dawson
The days have gone by,
like an hour glass,
time ticks by,
it will always pass,
and resonate within my mind,
these moments they slip through my fingers,
all the regrets stays, and lingers,
my mind once again,
reminds me of the person I could have been.

The words that were spoken,
when I lost you,
the pieces of me that were broken,
sometimes I say too much,
ashes at my feet,
all that I touch,
Somethings are meant to be said,
more regret would lie,
if it all stayed within my head,

Yesterday is gone,
with the tide,
left with your love,
and my pride,
naively I thought,
you would always be by my side,
but I always knew the truth,
that all of it was a lie.

Learning from lost love,
is a lesson sent purely,
from up above,
or a curse some say,
all the reasons on why,
you could not stay.

I must live for today,
and not yesterday,
for the days go by fast,
and I cannot allow myself,
to be haunted by my past,
because like an hourglass,
time ticks by,
one day I will only have yesterday,
regret are the only words,
that I would say,
so I will learn to live for today,
for your love is gone like yesterday.
