Electricity is then harnessed and generated into amorphous solar cells which keeps the mouth of the wormhole open and ready for travel. This electricity is then supercharged by mono crystalline solar cells, and then passed through an inductor allowing the energy to build up. Then this electricity is stored on the outer edge of Oceana's atmosphere.
Wormholes connect two points in space and time allowing superluminal (faster than light) travel. The flux tube connects the mouths of the Wormhole which connects these points achieving time travel. Directional manipulation of the wormhole is where Lekwondo excelled. Using the wormhole for time and interstellar travel was one thing, but picking and choosing its destination was another.
The Syrians on Oceana had long traveled to other star systems, but their direction of travel was not consistent. Lekwondo had now perfected the direction of travel, and also pinpointed its accuracy. Now they could freely travel to the far reaches of the Galaxy.
This faster than light travel enabled them to visit the Vega star system, the Hadar system, and even reach the Antares star system; five hundred and twenty light years out. But now with interstellar travel they could reach the unknown universe to search out different types of life forms.
A vote was taken amongst the town's people and it was decided that: Louis, Roy, and Dillo (who was a time dimension estimator and a mini robot) were to be the ones to make the trip. After the vote the three of them were taken and outfitted for the job. Dillo, who had already been given a mechanical makeover was provided with an exterior modification.
Dillo now had a new coat of Syrian metal overlaid on the outer skin of his exterior which made him shine like a new penny. He was also equipped with new gloves and shoes that were light weight and would out last time itself. Dillo's big blue eyes widened as he looked at himself in the mirror.
Roy and Louis were fitted with new outfits that were of a noble fashion. The looks of these outfits were deceiving; they were made with Syrian material that could turn even the sharpest blades of any third dimensional world. These outfits were made to look like normal clothing of any mortal world, thus not causing a stir if they were seen.
These outfits were made by fourth dimensional beings, and could morph themselves into many fabrics for whatever job was at hand; whether it be walking in a hot desolate land, or making even the most enduring trip in the coldest of temperatures. They all looked quite regale indeed when they all were fully outfitted.
Preparations had been made for their departure which would take place at the coming of first light. They would be teleported at day break in celebration of the Suns. The departure would be very low key so that only the ones that needed to know would be present when they left, which left the mission mostly a secret.
As the arrival of the suns came, (Sirius A, and Sirius B) all were prepared at the teleportation portal. The brightness of the Suns was intense as they stood shining in the giant window of the portal. Dillo was gleaming in the light as the portal lit up and business was under way.
Electron particles collided in the portal as the shapes of the three of them began to dissipate and blur in the twinkling of the light. Several Syrians watched as they just simply winked out and were gone; leaving a big blank spot in their place.
Roy, Louis and Dillo had been standing in the transporter one second, and the next second they were in the middle of a dust storm. The wind had blown Dillo on his back, and he was kicking his long legs trying to get up. Roy quickly grabbed him and put him inside his cloak.
"Let's get the heck out of here!" Roy yelled as he grabbed Louis and ran towards a small embankment. They all shielded their eyes from the dust and dirt with their hoods and made their way slowly to a small opening in the bank. The storm blew bitterly for twenty more minutes as they lay hidden in the opening. When at last the dust storm had subsided, everyone crawled from the hole and ventured out into the desolate land that lay ahead of them.
As Roy looked out into the distance what he saw was a cold bitter land. What lie ahead of them was dry rocky mountains that lacked any type of vegetation. If you "Googled" desolation on the internet this world would be the image you received. From a quick glance no life seemed to exist in this horrible forbidden place.
"I don't know if I like the look of this," Roy said, when he sat Dillo on the ground thinking about their mission. They were to evaluate this dimension, and search out any type of life which may exist.
"I have a feeling that I know which way we should go, and it doesn't look very good," Louis replied. Roy gave Louis an uneasy stare.
"Two life forms have been detected six miles ahead," Dillo said. "Would you like for me to scan a life image of these life forms?" He asked.
"Why not," Roy replied. "I guess it's about time we said hello. You know the old saying; "take me to your leader." Maybe this is their welcoming party."
"The life forms have been scanned," Dillo said proudly as he turned his tenacled blue eyes towards Roy and asked; "would you like to see them?"
"From here?" Roy asked.
"Why, yes. From here indeed," Dillo replied as he pressed a new button on his keypad. Out from behind Dillo a compartment opened up and out came a rather large screen. As the images appeared on the screen Dillo spoke proudly as his tenacled eyes focused on Roy. They sat and watched the screen that Dillo provided as the large figures began to appear.
"These beings are tri-pedal and are approximately seven and one half feet tall, with an Earth gravity comparable weight of four hundred and fifty pounds," Dillo said, and twitched his long eyes in different directions. He pressed more buttons and zoomed in on the beings on the screen.
Roy and Louis looked into the screen and saw two enormous three legged Ostriches. Their bodies were huge with very long muscular legs, and had huge dark penetrating eyes.
"Look at their eyes!" Louis screamed. The big bird's deep eyes looked like penetrating beams that seemed to look way beyond their field of sight. They all stared and watched as the Ostriches ran with the stride of a horse as their deep eyes stared into the screen.
"Man, those big birds are awesome," Louis said, looking at the screen.
"I'd say they're headed right for us," Roy interjected.
"I have estimated their time of arrival. They will be here in approximately ten minutes and twenty seven seconds," Dillo said. Roy just shook his head, not quite ready for these odd looking creatures.
"What do they want with us?" Louis asked.
"What do you think?" Roy asked. "They're going to take us to their leader. That's why we're here."
"Man, I always wanted to ride one of those things," Louis said as he eyed the screen intently.
"Well, it looks like you're going to get your chance," Roy said, and patted him on the back.
"Actually they're quite harmless," Dillo replied. "They are merely a means of travel, and a most efficient one." Roy sat and watched the small cloud of dust as it began to grow larger in the distance as the three legged Ostriches got closer and closer. Louis wasn't sitting though, he stood smiling anticipating their arrival.
Roy, Dillo, and Louis were standing on a rocky cliff watching when the three legged Ostriches arrived. The tri-pedal beasts were now milling around in the valley below looking up at the visitors with their penetrating dark brown eyes.
"So, what do you think," Roy asked. "You ready to go take a ride?" Louis jumped up immediately.
"Are you kidding? I was born ready," Louis said, and climbed down from the cliff to get a closer look at the birds.
"Do you think these things can fly?" Louis asked grinning ear to ear.
"I guess we'll just have to wait and see. How do you figure we're supposed to get on these things?" Roy asked, looking at the big birds uneasily. And as if the giant birds had heard him, they all sat down and looked over at the group.
"Man, now that's kinda spooky, isn't it?" Louis asked. "It's just like they knew what we were saying."
"Maybe they do," Roy replied. Roy watched as Louis went over and started talking to one of the Ostriches. Louis rubbed on one of the big birds just like it was his favorite pet, and the bird seemed to enjoy it. It looked back at Louis and rubbed its big ugly head against Louis's hand.
"Just like sitting at home on the couch," Louis gestured as he climbed up on the bird.
"What was that?" Roy said as he turned around very quickly. "It felt just like something was standing behind me."
"Aw, you're just a little skittish. Come on let's make tracks," Louis replied. Finally Roy climbed up on the back of the other bird and sat Dillo between his legs, and off they went into the mountains with Roy and Dillo sitting on one bird, and Louis on the other.
"Man these babies can fly like the wind," Louis said, smiling as he rode on the big bird; looking like Roy Rodgers on top of Trigger.
"Yeah, and we're getting ready to find out if they've got another gear," Roy said, then pointed towards the eastern skyline. Louis looked off to his right and saw a long line of approaching figures. They watched as the line of figures approached rapidly, and split into two groups; cutting off the path of the big birds.
"Wolves!" Roy yelled as he kicked his heels into the side of the big bird. The front line of wolves had reached a point ahead of them and was getting ready for an attack.
"Let see what these babies can do," Louis said as he gently nudged the side of his bird with his foot. The jolt he got from the nudge was like kicking in the overdrive of a big block Chevy engine. The bird's big legs dug in and they were almost flying when they all neared the front line of the wolves.
Four wolves moved in quickly for the onslaught, and were met with the power of the three legged bird's rear leg. The powerful leg swung out and slammed the lead wolf like it was banking the eight ball in the corner pocket. The big wolf flipped and rolled on the ground as it stirred up a long dust trail.
Three more wolves joined in and were met with the same fate as the first one. By now the long legged Ostriches had gained the much needed ground from the rest of the pack as they faded into the distance. Even Roy sat on the big beast with a rather large grin on his face.
The next few days were filled with tests and calculations done by Dillo and Roy. They had estimated the life spans of many types of life on this rather odd looking world. The planet's sun was in the last stages of a super nova. This world would not last much longer. They all made their preparations to leave as Dillo sent out a return signal to Lekwondo.
Everyone sat on top of a high hill and watched off in the distance as a giant wormhole began to form. Now it was time to return to their world. Roy and Louis closed their eyes as the wormhole swooped down and engulfed everyone like a class five tornado.
