"Time Traveler" with Cell Phone Spotted in 1928 Charlie Chaplin Flick

I Think Not..

Emily Griffin
There have been rumors of a guy on youtube named George Clark saying that in a 1928 Charlie Chaplin Flick called "The Circus," there is apparently a "Time Traveler" talking on a cell phone. I do believe in the possibility in time travel but I am skeptical to say the least. I have watched the footage several times but as far as I know she could possibly just be holding up her collar because she is just a passing pedestrian that originally wasn't cast in the movie. It also looks like she is talking to herself but I can't tell you how many times I've talked to myself in public.

Sure the government has technology that hasn't been released to the general public yet but I don't think it's possible that even the government had even the slightest notion of something like a cell phone.

"This short film is about a piece of footage I (George Clarke) found behind the scenes in Charlie Chaplins film 'The Circus'. Attending the premiere at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA - the scene shows a large woman dressed in black with a hat hiding most of her face, with what can only be described as a mobile phone device - talking as she walks alone.

I have studied this film for over a year now - showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing.

My only theory - as well as many others - is simple... a time traveler on a mobile phone. See for yourself and feel free to leave a comment on your own explanation or thoughts about it." -George Clark

I think Sherlock Holmes just turned in his grave. Here is a video with Clark explaining his theory but if you want to just cut straight to the chase, just watch the second video.

Let me clarify and answer some questions at the same time. The she in the video is really a he. Typically some time travelers are sent back in groups. The person in the video is communicating with another traveler who arrived in the same group. The travelers appearance in the video was on purpose and had meaning behind it. Just think about 2013. Since there communicating with each other there is no need for a tower or satellite. I assure you this is not the first. There are people who want this reveal to be covered up as soon as possible. The device being used is a bit more advanced than the modern day cell phone. Videos like this tend to get edited out videos or completely destroyed. The device is an advanced version of today's walkie- talkies

Also consider the company that was founded in this year and the possibility of them working with the government and sending someone back to improve the technology and advantage that the company would have over its competitors. If it were n

In the days of silent films, deaf actors and deaf extras were employed because of their adept use of body language, facial expressions, hand gestures and mime. Even Charlie Chaplin learned sign language and acting techniques from Deaf people.

Chaplin did not move his lips in his silent films. He used gestures and expressions resembling those used by deaf persons.

So for all we know, it could have been a deaf movie extra listening to instructions from director Charlie Chaplin through a sound amplifier or hearing aid during that scene. Not a time traveler.

It certainly does look like a cell phone, or is that just the power of suggestion? The figure looks strange though, more man than woman, with large feet and a very manly face and man hands. If they were talking into a hearing aid, they could have been drunk or mentally ill, much like the drunks that you see on the street these days talking to themselves. Given the age of the movie I guess we will never know.

Who really gives a rat's ass! A relative sent this to me - ooohh presto - now it's gone - must me magic!

Time travel, what a crock. Time travel is for dreamers and the guilty, the regretful and history revisionists. And she does look a bit manly in the clip... but I'm going with a dark compress or gloves pressed to the face. The talking is incidental and meaningless. Many talk to themselves.

Love the clip! No longer can you believe what you see. I added you to my favorites!

it's an edited clip, to create publicity. And like so many others have pointed out...how would anyone have gotten a signal way back then...I can barely get a signal half the time now.

Are you people actually insane (invisible mothership in the sky?!) or are you just joking around? I really hope you're only kidding. Really hope so.
