Time traveling through Texas
in a rented Cadillac;
while Johnny Cash plays on the radio,
and a beautiful woman sits by my side.
Speeding up and down
past pickup trucks and semis,
along the four-story tall freeway
of South Interstate Thirty-Five.
All the way down to Sixth Street,
then up to Guadalupe,
and over to Congress Avenue;
for sushi and chocolate martinis.
The past in my rear-view mirror;
the future laid out directly ahead,
with the dry Texas sun
blazing straight into my eyes.
