Time Wars, Silverlock & the Stainless Steel Rat
3 Novels to Movie I'd like to See on the Silverscreen
Coming soon to a silver screen near you, Time Wars. Based on the novels of Simon Hawke, Time Wars tells the story of a future earth, where wars are no longer fought by countries. Instead, thanks to new temporal technologies, disputes between countries are brought to the intermediaries, who then determine the best place in history to use. Each country send s a determined number of soldiers, dressed and armed in the appropriate fashion of the war, back to, say, the Battle of Antioch. Depending on how many soldiers survive the encounter, a winner is decided. No more destruction of cultural centers, no more disruption of industry and economy. No more threat of nuclear war. Clean, painless and meticulously scrutinized so that not even a hair of the deceased is left in the past to disrupt the timeline.
However, there are those, Temporal Terrorists, that wish to end this practice, that are bent on disrupting the past and spitting the timelines. Thus is born the U.S. Temporal Corps, whose elite specialists are sent to stop these agents of terrorism. Follow the best of the best, lead by idealistic and handsome Sergeant Major Lucas Priest (played by Bradley James), as they battle these foes in the past to save the present. Join Priest and his team of specialists: Sergeant Finn Delany (Adam Baldwin), the gruff non-com who has been busted more times than most officers have been promoted, yet more familiar with the science behind the temporal technology than everyone other than the man who created it. Andre Cross (Summer Glau), late of seventeenth century France, now an integral part of the team. Colonel Moses Forrester (Morgan Freeman) and Dr. Robert Darkness (Richard Spreight, Jr) round out the cast.
Directed by Joss Whedon, this spectacular romp across time to protect the human race is a visual and well written masterpiece that has no rivals in movie history. Rated PG-13.
Silverlock
Silverlock, based on the novel by John Myers Myers, is a literary smorgasbord of adventure. Travel along with A. Clarence "Silverlock" Shandon (Ben Stiller), survivor of a shipwreck, as he searches the Commonwealth for a way home on a Gulliver-esque adventure. Meet his traveling companion, Golias (Russell Crowe), as he shows Shandon not only the way but the things in life he had been missing out. Meet legendary figures throughout history, such as Robin Hood (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Little John (Robbie Coltrane), Midas (Benicio Del Toro), Madame Bovary (Cate Blanchett), Daniel Boone (Roger Taylor), Don Quixote (Sir Ian Holm), The Mad Hatter (Robin Williams) and so many others. A literal who's who of a cast is scattered among the lands of Crete, Sherwood Forest and Medieval France.
Directed by the immeasurable Kenneth Branagh and envisioned by the magnificent camera work of renowned cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, Silverlock is sure to be an instant classic. Currently unrated.
The Stainless Steel Rat
James Bolivar "Slippery Jim" DeCriz (Timothy Olyphant) is the one of the greatest crooks the galaxy has ever seen. Except he is out-conned by the Special Corps, an elite law-enforcement and spy agency lead by the greatest criminal, Harold P. Inskipp (Sean Connery). Coerced into joining the Corps, Slippery Jim tries his best to live up to his namesake and "slip" the Corps. But on his assignments and attempts to get out, he meets his soul mate, Angelina (Zoe Saldana), defeats his nemesis, Captain Zennor (Jet Li) and ultimately saves the galaxy. Watch as DeGriz and company work their magic on the silver screen and blow you away with their wry humor, non-stop action and out of thsi world special effects. From the novel by Harry Harrison, and the imagination of screenwriter Karey Kirkpatrick, The Stainless Steel Rat is for adventure lovers and sci-fi enthusiast everywhere.
Directed by action adventure director Len Wiseman, Slippery Jim and company will be conning their way to you soon. Rated PG-13.

Post a CommentIts an outstanding Book, Agnes. One I would recommend in a heartbeat. ANd yea, I'd be taking a chance with the Stiller casting, but I think he might have it in him to play Shandon. I KNOW Crowe has the chops to do humor with an edge, and he is physically how I pictured Golias.
Silverlock sounds interesting. Stiller and Crowe together?
