Time Zappers

Wonder why you get so little done at work and end up staying late frequently? It may all boil down to how you utilize your email and online chat programmes.
  1. Never let gossiping via email and online chat distract you from your work.

  2. Online messaging programmes can make it easy to communicate with work associates or colleagues, but be sure to use them with discretion. If you have a deadline to meet, resist going online, or switch your status to "Busy or Unavailable" so that your mates will be less inclined to disrupt you with a message.

  3. If your work is not "email-based" it is important to manage your work email by setting aside time for checking them and replying.

  4. Keep your "social" emails to an absolute minimum, and if a long reply is needed, tell them you will reply after work hours.

  5. Manage your emails before they start to manage you. Many of us are flooded by emails every other minute of the day and it can be highly distracting and disruptive when you attempt to reply to every email promptly. Instead of jumping to reply when it comes in, scan each email to ascertain the urgency of a reply. Flag less urgent emails or those that require more time to reply and set aside a time each day (like half an hour before you knock off) to reply to them.

The more we take control over things around us, the more you are eager to work better. So let's continually develop our own capacity, wake up every morning exited to go to work and work better than yesterday.

I agree. Getting control over time is important.
