Time's 100 Most Influential People

Who Among Them Has Influenced Me?

Pearl Grace
Time/CNN's list of the 100 Most Influential People includes leaders, heroes, artists, and thinkers. Three people on the list were influential in my life.

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey has influenced my life. Over the last 25 years, Oprah enlightened me about many subjects. Some of the topics are more frivolous but still useful-which jeans to buy and how to update my style. Other topics Oprah shared that influenced me were how to lose weight and improving my exercise/nutritional habits.

But by far, Oprah's topics regarding changing the world impacted my life the most. Oprah led me and the world back to reading. I appreciated the push. Another area Oprah periodically addressed is the importance of helping others. Oprah reminded me that we can all do something to change the world, to make it a better place. Her urge to give money to the hurricane devastation in Louisiana or the Invisible Children campaign to aid children in Africa opened my eyes to the necessity of giving to these and other causes.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs has influenced me in so many ways. Through his efforts to make the best technology, Jobs made my existence a lot easier. Jobs' work as the CEO of Apple changed my life.

After all, Jobs is responsible for this incredible iPhone I carry with me from room to room at home. I carry it in my purse or pocket when I leave. Everything about my iPhone affects how I live. I get in contact with practically anyone, anywhere, anytime using my iPhone.

Because of Jobs, I research a topic while I'm riding in the car. I get directions at the tap of the iPhone's screen. I even tune in to movies and television series, no matter where I am. Any information I seek is found in seconds with my iPhone. No doubt about it, Steve Jobs changed my everyday life in more ways than I can count.

Bill Clinton

Regardless of your politics, Bill Clinton is hard to ignore. In fact, it's even harder not to be moved or influenced by President Clinton. His level of intellectualism combined with his very human flaws is an awesome combination.

He truly cares about people around the world. Bill Clinton's humanity is obvious through his work in Haiti and Africa. There is no end to his charity and support of people around the world. To me, helping others in these unselfish ways is truly remarkable.

Clinton's public speaking skills show just how talented he is. I respect him in more ways than I can say. He stands as an example of a person who fell so far from grace but has put in triple the effort to regain a sense of humility and a respected stand in the country, indeed the world. And he's done it.

Putting Clinton in a good light- bold but fitting. He's a good man, and only human, which makes him even better :)

Bill Clinton is hard to ignore! My son (who protected him back when he was a Marine Security Guard) said he didn't agree with his politics, but he was a very genuine person and truly interested in the people who were around him.

I just discovered I have been "unsubscribed" to you, too! Gee! That makes 12 people in the last few weeks. It must be tied in with all the tech changes here. Anyway, I agree with Bill Clinton. He has gone above and beyond! Nice article! :)
