The Timex Healthy Remedies Kids Musical Thermometer is a digital thermometer in the shape of a cute koala bear (see picture). The thermometer is obviously marketed for kids, but the packaging states that the Timex thermometer can be used to take oral temperatures in children and adults. The part of the thermometer is curved, designed to ensure the proper placement in the perfect spot under the tongue. To begin a temperature reading, you press the koala bear's nose (the only button on the thermometer...very cute). Within a few seconds, the display will clear and you'll be ready to begin.
Just place the Timex Healthy Remedies Kids Musical Thermometer under the tongue, and it will play "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star" for 8 seconds, and then you'll hear a cheerful voice say "Great Job!". Once you hear that, you can take the thermometer out of your mouth and read the temperature on the clear LCD display. The Timex thermometer turns off automatically, and the next time you turn it on it will briefly display the last temperature it took, which is helpful for tracking a fever.
I really like the Timex Healthy Remedies Kids Musical Thermometer and am glad that I purchased it. It can take a temperature in less than 10 seconds, which is faster than any other digital thermometer I've seen. And althogh I know this product was designed with kids in mind, the cute koala bear motif and cheerful music put a smile on my face everytime I use it. If you're in the market for a new digital thermometer, I would definitely check this one out.
