There once was a mouse who only played in the house.
This mouse was not a big and scary rat.
He was nothing but a big scaredy-cat.
Timothy mouse always stayed inside everyday.
He never made friends or went out to play.
"Timothy Dear, will you please go outside?
There is no need for you to stay here and hide."
Timothy replied with a half-crooked smile.
"I think I'll just sit here and study awhile."
Timothy Mouse, he had a problem you see.
He was afraid of the sunshine, shadows, and trees.
He was afraid of the swing set. So he could not go to the park.
He couldn't go to the beach because he was scared of the shark.
Poor Timid Timothy was even afraid of the dark.
One day Mother Mouse said, "Timothy Dear, what is it you fear?
What is the reason you stay inside here?
Is it the mousetraps, or is it the cat?
I have an idea. Put on this hat.
Timothy crawled down out of his bed.
He took that old hat and put it on top of his head.
Look, Little Timothy, there's nothing to fear.
When you have the hat on, you disappear!
Timothy Mouse was full of doubt.
He had an idea. He must try it out.
Timothy moved forward, backward, then to the side.
His mother looked worried, "Where did you hide?"
Timothy smiled, he knew he had won.
It was time to go play and have some fun.
Timothy opened up the door and out he did run.
He was no longer afraid of the trees or the sun.
Mother Mouse simply smiled as she started to sew.
It was just and old hat, but he didn't know.
Timothy loved the hat that he wore.
Thanks to the magic hat he wasn't scared anymore.
