Tim's Surf and Turf in Darwin, Australia
A Local's Restaurant that Makes Everyone Feel like They Are Locals
The ambience of the restaurant is pure tropical holiday with tropical foliage, palm trees and a waterfall to provide the feeling of "escaping the city". The restaurant hosts an indoor dining area, outside eating area and a covered patio to enjoy your meals in. Some evenings live musicians, belly dancers and other entertainment play for the diners' enjoyment.
All of this is secondary to how Tim cares for his lunch time crowd with a set menu of hearty meals at only ten dollars a plate. Catering to all types of appetites, Tim's chefs prepare meals to order and are willing to make changes as needed for dietary needs.
My personal favourite is the chicken parmigiana served with a green salad and chips. A meal like this, filling and tasty, is something that allows Tim's to bring in such a crowd at lunch time, but the design of the building makes it so you never feel like you are in a crowd.
Tim's boasts a full bar for beer, spirits, and soft drinks. While there is no table service in regards to ordering, Tim's is designed for paying for your meal when you order it at the till, and thus when you choose to leave, it's a matter of simply standing up, waving goodbye to the incredibly friendly staff and you are on your way.
Tim's staff is another one of the many pluses to his restaurant and a compliment to his style as a manager, considering how long they stay and become familiar with the diners. Being greeted by name is a great way to feel "at home" when you go to a restaurant.
Combining all of this with Tim's humour and personality as he personally walks around and greets guests, making a connection you just don't get in most restaurants, Tim brings to dining another level of excellence.
Tim's is open for lunch and dinner and available for wedding receptions, meetings, and other style of events.
