Tinted Moisturizers, the Way to Go for Summer Skin Care?

Virginia Chavez
Usually a little concealer goes a long way in my fight against skin imperfections. But how do you feel with heavy make up on a hot day? Cakey, frumpy, you know - not so fresh.

During a recent skin 911 catastrophe, a blemish, my make up felt and looked cakey. The heat and cosmetic combo further irritated my skin too.

Breathe some fresh air; there are alternatives to the traditional concealer on the market that can prevent and resolve this issue while medicating your skin back to normalcy.

Option one is prevention with tinted moisturizer. Many tinted moisturizers on the market are SPF equipped and oil free. One for example is Stila's Sheer Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30. This brand offers sheer coverage, as stated in its name, but is a great preventative measure to skin care in the hot summer sun.

Looking for moisturizer, plus protection from UVA and UVB? Check out BalmShelter's Tinted Moisturizer. It has SPF 18 and doesn't clog pores as it has a non-comedogenic formula.

BalmShelter is my personal fav. Why? I have a few beauty marks on my face and the UVA/UVB protection adds some peace of mind while my face is exposed to excess sunlight.

Aside from the preventive skin care measures, what should you do if you have a blemish crisis? There are an array of options at your local drugstore or at department stores.

Cost effective acne treatment concealer makers include Neutrogena with its Skin Clearing Oil-Free Concealer and it goes for about eight bucks at Walgreens. Also, Physicians Formula Blemish Rx Blemish Healing Concealer claims to reduce the size of blemishes within two hours - sounds worthy of a try.

Department store brands that you can find at Sephora aren't unreasonably priced either. I found Clinique's Concealing Stick for about fourteen bucks. I like this one. It doesn't look cakey under make up - and it works!

See, there are options to summer skin care that won't break the bank. Don't let your make up bog you down. Go out and enjoy that sunshine.
