Recycling Coffee Cans

Megan Myers
Recycling uses for coffee cans--Spray paint with Krylon paint for plastic or leave as is.

Container for kitchen utensils

Container for office utensils (scissors, pens, pencils, ruler, etc.)

Toilet brush holder

Fat quarters for quilting or to store extra buttons

Container for holding combs, brushes

Containers for holding flour, sugar, coffee, and tea.

Store screws, nails, bolts.

Large water bowl for watering pets or scoop for cat food or dog food

Watering can for plants

Plant pot--make small holes in the bottom to drain water. Fill with soil and place a small plant inside the can.

Flower vase

CD holder

Use as support\legs for a table. Glue or duct tape the cans together, then paint if desired. Cut a board or a piece of glass to fit over the top. Voila! a table. Takes about 16 cans to do this.

Could also make an ottoman this way.

Curly noodles or other small pasta

Cookie jar

Mail holder

Gift container

Collect cooking grease

Take a small coffee can and fill with Carnation Half and Half, vanilla and sugar. Put the lid on tightly. Place inside a big coffee can with ice and salt packed in around it to make ice cream. Tape the large lid on, and roll the can around for 20-30 minutes. Store in freezer.

These are just a few ways to recycle empty coffee cans and keep garbage out of landfills. Just remember to clean and dry coffee cans before using.

Good ideas. It's a shame to waste these useful containers.
