Have you ever experienced your computer being attacked by virus or spy? Or it may be some operating files that are damaged. Or for some other unknown reasons that makes your computer becomes unstable. Or it may simply refuse to boot up completely.
If so, the only way to overcome the problem is to format the hard disk and reinstall the Microsoft operating system. It is a non complicated procedure and takes only 45 - 60 minutes to do. The time may vary depending on the speed of your computer.
But before we proceed, you must make sure that you have all your needed data stored in other drive (D, E, F, etc.) that is not the operating system drive (generally Drive C). If you do not have multiple drives in you hard disk, you must retrieve all your data to an external drive like the thump or mobile.
You must also have your CD or DVD software such as Window, Office, hardware drivers and so on in hand. When you are ready, turn on your computer and do the followings:
- Hit the "Delete" or "Del" key immediately at the boot up. This will bring you to the CMOS set up screen.
- Use the arrow key to navigate you to the "Advanced Bios Feature"
- Hit enter to view the Bios Feature screen.
- Moving the arrow keys on the key board to shift hi-light line to the "First Boot Device" line and hit enter.
- Select CDROM using the keys Page up and Page down on the key board and press enter.
- Now press the key "Escape" or "Esc" to bring you back to the "Advanced Bios Feature" again.
- Moving the arrow keys on the key board to shift hi-light to the "Save and exit" line.
- Insert Windows disk into your CDROM and close it.
- Hit "Enter", hit "Y", and again "Enter" on the key board.
- This will take you out from CMOS set up to the normal start up procedure.
- Simply let the computer boot until you see the writing "Boot from Atapi CDROM", then hit "Enter" quickly before it moves on.
- You will see "Press any key to boot from CD" on screen and again hit enter.
Now sit back and relax as it will take your computer a little while to work you to the page titled "Windows XP or Vista Set Up", to continue on your formatting procedure.
- Once there, hit "D" to delete partition "C".
- Hit "L" and "C" in the two following pages.
Windows will start formatting and copy files into your computer to install. This will take sometimes. Once this is done, Window will reboot.
- Ignore when Windows bring you to step 11 above or when you see the riting "Boot from Atapi CDROM" this time. Windows will bypass
CDROM boot up and goes direct to boot from your drive C.
Windows will now install all new files to your computer and set up divers for your accessories like mouse and keyboard. This is a long process of about 30-35 minutes. You will need to answer a few simple "yes" and "no" questions for Windows to move ahead especially towards the end of the installation. Just read and answer as appropriate.
Once Windows is completed, you should reboot it and redo the steps 1-10 above to reverse back the first boot of your computer to drive C. Take your CD off your computer.
You will need to install Office and some other drivers for main board and other hard wares. Now you will have yourself a stable operating system and save yourself some US$ 50-70.
email me if you still have problem.
