Many homes get their bills sent to their home but a lot of credit card companies and banks are now offering the 'paperless' option. When you choose this option you are not only keeping more trees up, but you are also saving your bank money and credit card companies money. Most credit card companies and banks have online access. When there is online access there isn't a need to have a bill sent home. Go online, or call customer service to find out how you can go paperless!
The second thing I would advise you to do is to buy water bottles. Stay away from the big water cooler that your company provides you. I recently saw on television that water coolers have 3x more germs then a water fountain (water fountains even at a public park were cleaner). Water coolers have more germs because people like to re-use their water bottle all day, all week or all month. This is how water coolers get contaminated with all of the germs (The top of the water bottle touches the spout of the cooler and germs start to take over). Buying a water bottle saves you money and is re-useable. This is a great way to save money!
A lot of manufacturers are moving with the green trend. Look for bottles at your local grocer that say 'green' on it. This could mean that the bottle is re-useable, they've taken out harmful chemicals or that they are using re-cycled items to produce their products.
Recycle! There isn't anything more simple then recycling your cans, bottles and old news papers. Make it a tradition to plant a tree every month. When you have kids a great tradition to start up would be planning trees every month. Make sure that you and your family are aware of what they can re-use! There are a lot of things families can do to decrease pollution and keep our planet healthy for generations to come!
