.) It's very important that you try to attend because, you don't want to appear antisocial because, you sill have to work with these people five days a week.
.) Going to your holiday party at work is a sure way to move up in your company because, you'll be able to interact with all the executives and find out what they like which will give you more things to talk to them about when you see them at work, and it will help break the ice between you and the higher ups where you can get a chance to learn more about what they want for the company. Also it will give you ideas on what to say to them when you see them at work other than good morning, after a while that gets boring.
.) Try not to drink alcohol at the holiday party because even tho you say you'll only have one you will most likely have more than one and that is the last thing you want is for your co-workers and management to see you drinking to much alcohol, you could end up saying something you didn't mean to say, but, alcohol has a way of making the truth come out weather you want it to come out our not, so it's best not to drink at the party because you will hear about it on Monday morning and it could be embarrassing to you and your co-workers as well. Drinking to much could make you look bad and hurt your reputation. Some employees think a holiday party means lots of drinking and dancing, if you want to do this type of parting you should wait until you're at a club and it is not work related and is on your own personal time some place your employment knows nothing about. Some holiday parties don't even allow the employee to have alcohol in the first place which is properly best, but, there are some who does have the alcohol, if they do just only have one drink if any at all to be safe.
.) Make sure you get up and mangle and show them that you know how to socialized, it's nice to set with your own department but it is a good idea to get to know the people who work in other departments, who know what you may learn it could be something that could help your career, sometime just by talking to other employees you can find out about things like who's leaving and they haven't told anyone yet or, there may be an opening in another department that you didn't know about, and many other things you can learn that you didn't about thats going on in the company.
.) One other thing when you're at a party especially, a holiday party for your job, most people just want to eat and have fun play the raffles, see who wins what, and what gifts they get and so forth, and not be bothered with anything business related, they don't want to talk about work it's a chance to get to know everyone and enjoy the music and food.
