Firstly, avoiding the Orlando, Florida crowds is a lot easier during the off season. If possible, it is best to avoid Orlando, Florida during times of the year when the central part of the Sunshine State sees its largest number of guests. Generally, try to avoid planning your family vacation around these peak season times. Stay away during the summer. Not only is Orlando too hot from mid-June to mid-August, it's also when you'll waste more time waiting than seeing and doing and enjoying things. Also avoid mid-March to mid-April, and the two weeks around Christmas and New Years. February, May, September, October and November are some of the best times to visit Orlando, Florida, both weather-wise and crowd-wise.
Avoiding the Orlando, Florida crowds is also a lot easier when you take advantage of services offered by the area's main attraction - Walt Disney World. If traffic gets you down, don't even bother renting a car. Take advantage of public transportation, especially Disney's transportation. At no cost to you, you can ride Disney's buses from each of their resorts to each of their theme parks and back. You can also ride the Disney ferries and the monorail to certain destinations. Not only is Disney transportation easier, it's also a lot more fun.
Of course, you should also take advantage of Disney's Fast Pass while enjoying Disney's theme parks. Fast Pass allows you to reserve a time to experience certain rides or attractions at a scheduled time without having to wait in a long standby line. Just stick your normal park admission ticket into a designated Fast Pass machine and you can come back at the time listed for your ride. It's simple and it will save you hours of waiting in line.
Another tip on avoiding the Orlando, Florida crowds is to start your day early in the morning. Check the opening times for theme parks and other attractions and get there before anyone else. A lot of guests to Orlando, Florida are late risers. Beat them to the punch and avoid the crowds and long lines.
Finally - and perhaps most importantly - make reservations at your favorite restaurants for your entire stay in Orlando, Florida. Especially during the high season. Even during slow times, it can be difficult to get a table at many restaurants in Orlando, Florida. Especially Disney's restaurants. To make reservations (known as priority seating) at Disney's restaurants, call 407-WDW-DINE well in advance of your trip to Orlando, Florida.
