Tips on Becoming a Florida Snowbird

Florida Vacation Homes

Sunshine is the obvious motivation for becoming a snowbird. As per usual, economic considerations factor into the equation. This usually requires some planning.

The best financial aspect to consider is that the expense of heating your home is virtually eliminated.

For starters, think in terms of a step by step plan. Mobile homes for sale are in abundance for the looking.

As one generation passes, they leave behind a bequest of good deals. Finding a place in a fifty five and older park is a best bet.

More often than not, the furnishings are included. Kitchenware is usually supplied making for very little in the way of startup costs. When in a community, it's easier to find inexpensive lawn maintenance which is required during your absence.

Most of the fifty five and older mobile home parks have exceptions to the age stipulation. I met a lot of nice older folks and really enjoyed this part of living in one of these communities.

Depending on the location, pricing for manufactured homes fluctuates from $500 to all the way to $60,000 or $70,000. The lot rent is combined in the expenses, too. A brand new home can be delivered to the lot. Pricing for these usually starts around $140,000.

If mobile home living is not your ideal set up, perching in a pre owned mobile home makes the ideal operational base for conventional house shopping. This gives plenty of time to search out a regular home as the ultimate goal.

Otherwise, staying in a hotel or motel while searching could turn out to be really expensive. Rushing a real estate purchase in Florida is not a good idea. Taking time helps to avoid the pitfalls.

More considerations come in the way of personal preferences. My husband and I knew through visits to the gulf coast that we wouldn't want to be on that side of the state. Areas around Fort Myers have been so popular that traffic congestion is really bad.

We started our search renting a trailer in Lakeland, which is close to the middle of Florida. While there, the owner offered us an unbelievable deal if we wanted to purchase her place. Between being land locked, and nothing to do we declined her asking price of $500!

We knew what we didn't like, but what did we really want? We got the answer by taking drives down State Highway 1. Traveling parallel to the ocean, we checked out several communities. It seemed the ones we really liked hardly had any openings.

Yet this was a way to determine likes and dislikes. I was attracted to the California-like places. We discovered alternative medicine places, and a new age consciousness trend going up and down the east coast. This aspect added appeal for me.

One South Florida area where we stopped to look at the beach had a really great feeling about it. We honed in on this area, and finally found a foreclosure home, and renovated it. We are ten minutes from the beach and are really happy here on Florida's east coast.

Robin, Do you know of anywhere that there are no weather related problems? If so, let me know.

Florida is pretty nice. Mother nature hates mobile homes though. She picks them up and throws them into the ocean occasionally.
