Tips for Boiling Eggs

To properly boil eggs put them in a pan and cover with cold water, bring to a boil, then cover them with a lid. Let stand for 15 minutes. Now for the prevention of problems...

You should never drop cold eggs into water to hard boil. You should let them set out until they are room temperature before you boil them. This prevents them from cracking.

To prevent eggs from cracking when boiling, let the eggs themselves stand in warm water before placing in the cool water bath to boil. If you have an egg with a crack in it, you can still boil it by wrapping it in aluminum foil first. This is like a little safety net for it. You can also add a few drops of vinegar to the water if an egg cracks during its boiling process.

Plunge the hard cooked eggs into cold water before removing the shells. The shell will come off easier and you will not have a black ring around the yolk. You can also crack each shell and put them in a pan of cold water to which salt has been added. This helps slip off the shells too.

\If you have boiled your eggs too long, place them in a basin of water for about a half of minute. This will soften them and make the flavor better.
