The first thing you need to do it make sure your hair is truly clean. You can go expensive with tea tree oil shampoo or go simpler with vinegar or beer. They will strip all the crud from your dull hair make it less heavy and coated. This will also make your hair take conditioning better.
Another great tip to brighten your gray hair is lemons. Mix a half a cup of your conditioner and half a cup of lemon juice. Mix this into your hair and go outside spend the day in the sun on your deck or at the beach letting the lemon juice and the UV get friendly. This will help brighten your hair but also keep it conditioned.
One of the best ways to brighten dull gray is olive oil. Depending on your length of hair is how much you want to use but shoulder length hair usually needs a cup and just add from there. Make sure to heat up 30 seconds in the microwave or on the stove till it is hot. This will open the hair follicles making sure the moisture truly penetrates all your hair even the stubborn gray.
Henna is also a simple solution to brighten and bring a lot of shine to gray hair. Just make sure to get the henna that is neutral and not for coloring otherwise you will turn into a red head, which isn't a bad plan but probably now what you are looking for. Henna is a green plant, all natural and usually sells at a health food store for around $7.00. After putting this goop into your hair however it can take over 20 minutes to rinse it out. However the results will be worth it, the shine that comes after doing this to your hair is amazing.
Lastly you can now get hair color that is not color, it is just for shine, and why is this? Hair color usually gets a bad rap for killing hair and drying it out, and that can be the case with cheap hair color or bleaching colors. However the darker hair colors or this new no color has incredibly deep conditioners and is made to get into the hair follicle giving great shine and brighteners to your hair.
Just remember be proud of your gray hair and a shiny and bright head of hair is right around the corner and without having to spend your whole paycheck.
