Tips on What to Bring on Long Car Trips in Case of an Emergency

If you plan to go on vacation to a far away place there are some things you will want to consider before going out on the open road, especially if you are going to a new place or one you do not know very well. You are going to want a few things in your car in case of an emergency also to make things run smother and more comfortable.

The first thing you are going to want is maps. Make sure you have a map for every place you go. This may seem like a no brainier, but if you do not check, you can have a small strip of roads where you can get lost do to a mapping error, or a big problem if you accidentally pack the wrong map.

The second thing you should check is a case of water. This is not only a thirst quencher to keep you driving, but also can be essential in an emergency. If you get caught in the desert you will need it to drink until help arrives, do not pour on your engine to cool it down. Also if your radiator starts to leak you can use it to fill your radiator if you do not have another choice.

The third thing you will want to have in your car is a first aid kit. This will be more useful then you may think, so keep it in your vehicle.

The fourth thing you should have is a bag full of wire coat hangers. They may be more useful then you can imagine if you are clever and know how to wire things together. A new car should not need you to wire anything, except if you get a hole in your muffler, because an emergency tin can wiring can save you a traffic violation.

A fifth thing is a basic tool set. A tool set for your car is very handy. Your car should already have a jack, spare, and tire iron, which you should know where they are, but some other things may be required. A couple screwdrivers are always useful. You can pry covers and hubcaps off with a flat one.

The Sixth and maybe most important thing you should carry in your car are spare fuses. Even if your car is new a fuse can blow.
