Tips for Buying a Cell Phone

Articles
I'm certainly no expert on cell phones. However I may be able to offer some useful advice because I just got a phone a couple of hours before writing this. As you are already aware, the most important thing about a cell phone is that your call should get through when you need it to. This is in essence the most important thing about a cell phone. It does not matter how many bells and whistles it has if it doesn't work when you need it to. For this reason I choose Verizon as my carrier. My previous carrier was Sprint and about half of my calls did not get through when I was in the Los Angeles area.

It has been said that the majority of people only use their phones for making calls. I believe it was around 70%. This number could be off but I think it is accurate for the general cell phone user which encompasses people of all ages including older people who only use cell phones for emergencies. If you're happy with your carrier you can focus on the phones that that specific carrier offers. This is one way to save you time.

Next you can narrow down your choices to the type of hardware that will practically suit your needs. In my opinion the free phones that are currently being offered by Verizon when you sign up for a two-year contract are more than enough for the average user. My free phone came with a camera and Internet access. I don't normally use the Internet on my mobile devices. However, the camera can come in handy for novelty reasons, or for more serious encounters such as getting into a car accident and getting a picture of someone's license plate. I can see many reasons for getting a phone that includes a camera. This is probably not an issue as in most of the modern phones already include one.

Many people would be happy with the smallest and most comfortable phone available. The phone I got was not only free but it was the smallest of the bunch. You may be happy with the phone that has rounded corners instead of a sharp square shape. This is called meltdown. Professional law enforcement often use guns to have this kind of shape because they do not snag on pants or other items when being pulled out for duty. While the phone is not a gun obviously, you will be pulling it out fairly often and you don't want to have trouble getting it out of your pocket. These are some of the simple factors that are important to me in a cell phone.

Lastly, the cell phone should look good to you. You can show it off your friends, and you can enjoy its exterior when you're playing games or manipulating the buttons. If your phone is attractive to you than you will be will be more likely to take good care of it. Furthermore, analyze the phone's sturdiness. More than likely most people will drop their phone at least once during its life span.
