Easy Indications to Know that You Are Buying Real Jewelry and Gemstones

First off I would like to say that you should get to know your gemstone cuts clarity and sizes making yourself more familiar to these things will help you to determine whether the item that you are thinking about purchasing is the real deal.

For instance, If you are buying a loose gemstone parcel pay close attention to the millimeter size of the gemstone. Most of time the pictures that you are looking at are enlarged quite a bit to "show detail" I believe it is sometimes to make you think you are getting something you are not.

All natural jewelery and gemstones will be marked as such they will not say lab created, cubic zirconia, etc !! These are not the real thing they look similar to them and often are too perfect.

Remember that pieces of rough stone that have been polished will almost NEVER be completely perfect they will either have a color change or cloudiness to them. Now if they are a very expensive piece they may not.

Make sure to do a little research when making a large purchase for jewelery from the Internet~ ***Major Jewelery stores on the net will indicate which stones/jewelery are lab created and which are natural from the earth. For instance: zales, markmans etc will be your major jewelery stores I'm not talking about ebay!!

I cannot stress the importance of making sure that you are getting what you think you are getting !! If you are looking for a diamond tennis bracelet and it doesn't come with the information about carat weight, clarity, color (The Three C's ) Look somewhere else if the price doesn't seem right for something so pretty it probably is that way for a reason.

Another thing to look for when purchasing your jewelery or loose gemstone is the total carat weight of the stones, the gold weight 10k 14k 18k 24k and make sure that if you are looking for gemstones already in a setting that you aren't going to be paying for a "layered in gold item" sometimes "fake" jewelery will be sterling silver layered in platinum or gold, all though they use more gold in that process because platinum is so expensive.

Chances are if it sounds to good to be true it probably is make sure that you are shopping with a BBB recommended on line store the better business bureau for on line stores will have list's of bad reports for these stores.

Make sure and take the time to make an informed decision about who and where you are buying from. Pay close attention on ebay to the listed information about the jewelry or gemstone this information should always be listed or you should be able to contact someone for this information. I myself have paid quite a bit of money for some "too good to be true" tanzanite gemstones and have later learned that they weren't worth the envelope that they were shipped in.

One more thing to look for when researching your information is if they list inclusions !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the stone/jewelery that you are looking at doesn't show any make sure that you check and make sure that it isn't listed in the information because chances are it will be more of a pain then its worth to get a refund on.

Now that you have some basics if you are looking to make an investment in jewelery or purchase something for that special someone do not try to get it on the cheap people that sell these items for a cheap price often all ready know that they aren't worth much you can save yourself the hassle by going to tried and true jewelery stores. Have fun with your purchases and enjoy them just make sure you are making an informed decision pay attention to details and also find out as much information about the jewelery you are going to buy !!!
