It is important that you consider what fish you want in your tank before you decide on the actual aquarium tank. If you are looking for larger fish or a school, you may want a bigger tank, but smaller tanks are a nice compliment to a room as well. How often you want to be actually cleaning the tank is another variable with the type of fish you decide on. If you work with the fish, you can purchase several varieties to have a small built in ecosystem and avoid cleaning too often, but at the same type of fish and you will be cleaning the tank out every other week.
There are three types of aquarium tanks that can be purchased. There are the long aquarium tanks which aren't too deep, but you will find the rectangle rather bulky in the wrong spot. Then there is the deep aquarium tank. These can be a good purchase depending on what fish you want to have. However, you should know the larger, deeper aquariums are harder to clean. Your rate of disease and any problems should your fish become sick immediately triple using the deeper tanks. Finally there is the exotic aquarium tanks won't be too tough to clean, but you may be limited on the number of fish you have in the tank and you will be paying a lot of cash for a pretty tank or an odd shape.
Have you thought about where you are going to put the aquarium tank in your room? Depending on where your final location, you should have it placed where it fits best in the room you have chosen. This is a major deciding factor. Also, consider what room you will be putting the tank into? Will it be a centerpiece or just part of the room to house the fish? These are important ideas to consider before purchase.
There are several different types of materials aquariums are made out of and can be purchased. The most common are traditional plate glass but Plexiglass and fiberglass are available as well. If you are looking to build it into furniture or have it highlight a room, consider contacting a professional interior designer to assist you with your decision to make the best choice.
