Tips for Buying a Real Christmas Tree

If you are trying to decide if you want a fake Christmas tree or a real Christmas tree you have some factors to decide. When you purchase a real Christmas tree you will probably have to add water to the base at least a couple times per day. Otherwise, the tree will become died out and it will lose its needles. It might also start on fire from the Christmas lights because it's so dry. If you have the time to water the tree before you go to work and after you get home from work, you will be fine. Then there's the money aspect. When purchasing a fake tree you will probably spend a lot more. We spent about $400 on our fake Christmas tree. You can buy about a six foot real Christmas tree for around seventy dollars or so. They will charge you a certain amount of money per foot of tree that you purchase. You will want to purchase a nice, big, full tree. Shake the tree a little bit to make sure that all the needles don't fall off.

When looking for a tree there are many different types that you can buy. Most of them will be pretty sticky. Some of them will be really pointy and sharp. Usually there will be somebody who comes around on a four wheeler and they will mark your tree and take it back for you so that you don't have to carry it. You can then ride in a wagon back to the area where they are shaking out the Christmas trees. Don't show up at the place an hour before they close because some people are very picky when it comes to picking out a Christmas tree. Some people will spend several days looking for the right tree.

Before you choose the right tree that you want you will have to make sure that there aren't two trucks. You cannot put two trunks into a Christmas tree holder. It will also tip over all the time, breaking all of your expensive Christmas decorations. Do not place the tree on any type of hard flooring. At least if it falls on the carpet you will have a chance of saving most of your decorations.

You will also want to make sure that the trunks isn't crooked. If the stem on the tree is bent or crooked the tree will also fall over. Once you get to the area where they are shaking the trees, you will have to check the tag to see which tree is yours. They will place the tree into a machine and shake all the needles off. Then they will wrap up the tree and set it over for people to check the tags. Once you have your tree you will have to pay for the tree. Then you can load it up into your SUV or truck. Do not bring a car unless you are going to place the tree on the top. Your vehicle will probably also get full of sap.
