Tips on How to Choose the Best Outdoor Grill

Some of the basics of grilling or barbecuing are very simple to master. Most of the tricks to good grilling all depend on experience. But there are some things you can learn to get you started. Most of which depends upon the type of grill you are going to use. An old saying says that a sword is only as sharp as the man that wields it. The exact opposite can be said for grilling. However, an expensive model in not necessarily better then a cheaper model. Here are a few tips to get you started for your backyard grilling.

The best grill that you can by to actually grill with is one that uses wood. It cooks the meat without adding some nasty chemical kinds of flavors. The Big Woods Tripod Company makes a grill that is exceptional for cooking over a campfire. If you do like to ad flavor to the meat then it can be accomplished by cooking your meat with wood from an apple tree, or most other fruit baring trees.

If you do not have a readily available supply of wood you will probably want to cook with a charcoal grill. Charcoal grills are also the best to choose if you want to smoke your meat. Smoking your meat can bring extra flavor into the meat, but it also takes away some of the natural flavors of the meat you are cooking.

A propane or other gas grill is never a good idea. A lot of people will disagree with this, but an explosive substance that is used as a fuel for small commercial trucks just does not seem like the greatest thing to cook with. In addition to that it always fouls the good tasting meat with the smell they put in the propane so that you can smell it if there is a leak. Also it is a lot safer to keep a bag of charcoal in your basement then a tank of propane, especially if you have small children around.

Now that you have decided on what type of grill to by check out your local stores that sell grills for the right one. Check the display model for any flaws. Push it back and forth gently to make sure the legs are sturdy on the grill. Test all the moving parts to make sure that they are easy to use. Also if it has a bun warmer or some other practically pointless feature on the side of the grill or in it, it is probably not worth the price.
