How Do I Choose a Bar Sink?
Before you pick out a bar sink, you need to stop and think "where is this sink going to go and what am I going to use it for?" For example, if you're using the bar sink in an upstairs playroom, you may really only intend it to be used for washing hands, getting a drink of water or rinsing out cups. In that case, a smaller sink less than 15 inches wide may be appropriate. However, if you're placing your bar sink outside in a grilling area or in an actual basement bar, you may prefer to choose a larger bar sink that is over 15 inches in width.
There are also several sizes, colors, styles and materials for bar sinks as well. Don't forget to think about fixtures when choosing your bar sink. You may love that 3 hole sink's style, size and color but can you find a fixture to match? Of course, don't let this scare you. Choosing a bar sink is easy, it just takes some consideration.
What Are Some Examples of a Bar Sink?
As stated before, there are all types of bar and prep sinks available. For just under $50, you can get a standard stainless steel square shaped bar sink (with two faucet openings.) Of course, the more popular and stylish a sink, the more it costs. However, you can still get a modern undermount round bar sink for around $150 (this particular example is 18 inches wide.) Not a bad deal, of course, but this is just the beginning of things.
Once you star getting beyond the basics, you'll also find that there are really a lot of stylish choices. Copper is especially popular right now and of course, you can find a round, modern hammered copper sink for under $200 (this particular example is $179.) Some sinks even include accents such as a Fleur-De-Lis on each wall.
Of course, sinks aren't just round, square, rectangular or oval. If you're willing to pay more for a stylish sink that will wow your guests, you can get specialty styles such as kidney-shaped bar sinks (this kidney-bean shaped sink runs $927.) Looking for a little more "wow" factor? Consider a completely out-of-the-ordinary shape like this bar sink offers ($1,263 but worth the price in the right home.)
These are just examples of what you can expect to find out in the market. Really look around and be sure that you've found the bar/prep sink that matches your needs, your wants and of course, your budget.
