Tips on How to Clean Without Spreading Dust Around

One of the biggest problems homeowners face when dusting is spreading it around all over the place. Dust particles float through the air until they land and stick on one of the many surfaces within your home. You can find dust anywhere from the ceiling fans to the floors. It builds up on shelves, furniture and in every nick and cranny found throughout your home.

According to WebMD, approximately twenty million Americans have an allergic reaction to the dust mites that feed off of the dust found in homes. It's believed to be a common cause of asthma symptoms particularly where children are involved, which is why dusting is so important.

Nevertheless, when dusting, it's important to actually eliminate as much of the dust as you can instead of spreading it around and sending it from one place to another. Using proper cleaning techniques can help you accomplish this goal.

My kids and I have allergies to dust mites so it was important for me to find a way to clean dust without just blowing it around in my home. Below are a few tips on how to reduce the amount of dust found in your home by picking it up and eliminating it instead of spreading it around:

• There are a number of different cleaning solutions available that can be used to clean without spreading these particles around. When you use these products the dust will stick to the cleaner on the cloths instead of being pushed back into the air.

• Avoid using feather dusters that simply send the dust particles floating through the air to settle on other surfaces. Instead, choose one of the modern dusters made from special material that attracts and holds the dust until it's cleaned.

• When you need to dry dust, use microfiber cloths that attracts and stores the dust particles in the cloth until cleaned. Ordinary dust cloths are made from cotton and similar materials that push particles around instead of picking them up. Therefore, it's best to avoid these unless you plan to use some type of solution to hold the dust to the cloth.

• Replace your broom with a vacuum cleaner. Brooms spread the dust and debris around the home by sending these particles from the floor into the air, while vacuum cleaners suck them up into a bag. When vacuuming, use HEPA bags for the best results.

All homes have dust to some degree but the way you clean has a huge effect on how much is spread around instead of picked up and eliminated. Dusting is time consuming so, get the most out of your hard work by applying the tips above when you clean.
