With pollutants from "aerial garbage" and the unsafe practices of factories, the Earth's air, plants, and animals are unsafe in our environment. As a consumer, there are things you can do to help conserve the earth and the air. Here are some tips to help you help Mother Earth and future generations.

Buy dry groceries in cardboard boxes made from recycled material.

Ride a bike to save energy and reduce pollution.

Refuse to buy overpackaged products and reuse and recycle what you can.

Write letters to companies doing environmentally harmful things and ask its people to change their ways.

Do your part by not buying products with excessive packaging. This will help reduce needless waste.

Turn your waste foods into compost piles by mixing them with dirt. This will help your garden plants grow as well as helping the environment.

Teach yourself and your family to know what they want from the refrigerator before opening the door. This will reduce the amount of energy being wasted when the door is open too long.

Aerosols are non-recyclable and fill up landfills. Purchase spray bottles instead. These do not contribute to air pollution.

Do not buy or eat vegetables that have chemicals sprayed on them. This will lessen water pollution as these chemicals can be washed into our water supplies.

Dispose of your hazardous waste materials only at a designated facility.

For picnic family outings, take dishes rather than paper plates and cups.

Seal off drafts and check the insulation in your home to reduce your heating bill and energy usage.

Use the front and back of sheets of paper. Recycle as many paper and plastic goods as possible.

Donate mail advertisements, catalogs, and magazines to churches, doctor's offices, or a neighbor.

Plant trees to help hold the ground.

Use rechargeable batteries as standard batteries have hazardous materials that can leak into landfills when thrown away.

Get your kids involved in setting up a recycling center in your home. Make separate bins for newspapers, glass, aluminum, and plastic.

Take your paper and plastic bags back to the grocery store when you shop and fill them with your purchases rather than taking home more bags and throwing them away.

When you are brushing your teeth, turn the tap water on and off as you need it.

Cut down on your electric bill and light usage by turning off the lights when you are not using them.

Buy products with recyclable packaging, which are gray or dark brown, rather than white.
