Fluid Intake
One of the first things a people should do if they are suffering from constipation is to watch their fluid intake. They should increase their fluid intake, but make sure that they are drinking the right things. Water is a good choice for someone who wants to relieve constipation. Apple juice can also help. Try to stay away from fluids like soda that may make your body feel even worse.
Dairy
Stay away from dairy products. Dairy can make your constipation worse. Examples of dairy to avoid would be cheese, milk, ice cream, and sour cream. Some people find that dairy actually binds up their bowel movement and helps to give a person constipation. So stopping from having excessive dairy in your diet may be a constipation remedy.
Fiber
Having more fiber in your diet is a great way to relieve constipation. Eating foods with fiber in it will help. For example, eating bran muffins or eating an apple is good for adding more fiber into your diet. It helps your bowel movement to flow easier in your body. There are also fiber supplements that you can buy over the counter at your local pharmacy or grocery store that can help add more fiber to your diet.
Walk
Some people like to lay down when they have constipation. However, it might actually be more helpful for you to take a nice long walk. Walking gets your body moving. It might help your bowel movements to want to come out more easily.
Warning
Sometimes your symptoms of constipation may become more severe. It might require you to see your doctor. If your constipation lasts more than three weeks, get checked out by your doctor. When there is blood in your stool go see your doctor. If there is intense pain and your abdomen is really swollen then get checked out by your doctor. Usually constipation is easily solved, but sometimes it can be more serious.
