Now that you have converted to drinking soy milk, you ponder what other things you can use it for. This article offers eight suggestions for other uses for soy milk, whether you purchase soy milk or make your own. So on to the suggestions:

1. Use flavored milks in desserts to add sweetness; however, do not use if the final dish is to be white as soy milk is beige to caramel color and will dull the final presentation. (Source: Ehow.com)

2. You can use the same ratio of soy milk to dairy milk, but you will have to experiment with using cornstarch as soy milk does not have as much saturated fats so because of same, it will not set as well as dairy milk. (Source: Ehow.com)

3. Just like dairy milk, soy milk will scald easily, so it will require constant stirring. Further, it will curdle in high acidic dishes. (Source: Ehow.com)

4. In savory dishes, unsweetened or plain soy milk works well because it still retains a slight natural sweetness as well as a beany flavor which blends well into savory dishes. (Source: Freegroups.com)

5. In high acidic dishes, it is best to add the soy milk in at the end of cooking and gently heat (do not bring to a boil) through to avoid curdling if a smooth dish is wanted. (Source: Freegroups.net)

6. Soy milk curdles when it is boiled so it will work well in savory dishes where texture is desired. (Source: Freegroups.net)

7. Soy milk will not work in instant puddings. The reason behind this, is that soy milk does not contain casein, which is a protein found in dairy milk. Instant puddings rely on casein to help set up quickly. However, sweetened soy milk will work in cooked puddings. (Source: Veganrepresent.com)

8. Plain or unflavored soy milk will work well as a base for cream soups and sauces. Further is can replace dairy milk in baked goods without any noticeable detection. (Source: Veganrepresent.com)

So experiment with soy milk and you could be pleasantly surprised. Just keep in mind to use unsweetened or plain soy milk in savory dishes and sweetened soy milk in desserts where milk is needed including but not limited to shakes, smoothies and baked goods.
