Pet dander
If you are like most Americans you love your pets and would be lost if you had to do away with them. There have been many studies that have proven that children who grow up around pets are less likely to develop allergies when they grow into adults, and are better able to interact with society.
Remember to keep your pet groomed, and shampooed as this will cut down on your sinus problems. Some other tips that you can follow are; make sure that you vacuum around their private living areas on a regular basis, and look for special products that are created for people with sinus problems who live with pets. Remember that your cat or dog may have a different type of dander. What that means is that if you are allergic to a shorthaired dog, you may not be allergic to a longhaired one.
Dust mites are another popular cause of sinus problems. Dust mites are a huge problem to get rid of because they usually hide in your carpeting, upholstery, drapes, linens, pillows etc. Remember to always purchase allergy friendly linens and wash frequently in hot water. It may also be a good idea to replace the carpeting in your home with tile, linoleum or wood, and replace your curtains with blinds.
Mold is usually found in damp places such as kitchens, basements, and bathrooms. There are special products on the market that will help to discourage and eliminate the growth of mold in your home. One great product for this is Lysol. Another great way to cut down on infections is to use exhaust fans in your kitchen and bathroom. Dehumidifiers have also been shown to be great in helping to reduce mold. If you have to do yard work, remember to always wear a mask.
There are a multitude of different things that have the potential to cause sinus infections. However, there are also a multitude of things that you can do that will aid you in your fight against sinus allergies. Always remember to be careful about the things that you let into your home. This will reduce the risk that you will come into contact with something that could cause you to have a flare-up.
