Tips on Covering a Blemish like a Professional

Linda M. McCloud

Getting a pimple on your face is never any fun. Getting a pimple on your face right before a big event is plain torture. You are sure that everyone is going to see only the pimple. You are sure that they won't notice your lovely hair, outfit, or even your accessories. This means there is only two solutions. Hide in your bed and skip the big event or learn how to cover up the blemish, like a professional would.

Step One: Shrink the blemish

Before you apply any concealer, consider ways in which you may be able to shrink the blemish. If you are able to shrink the pimple, it will be easier to hide. The best way for most people is by simply placing a cube of ice onto the area. The ice will take down any swelling the pimple may have which will help decrease its size. However, only leave it on for a few seconds and do not apply ice to your skin if you happen to suffer from the skin disorder known as rosacea or you may experience more reddening of the skin.

Step Two: Choose The Right Concealer

Make sure you have the right concealer. This concealer must have the right type of pigment in it. This must be a strong pigment that can actually cover the pimple without you having to use layer and layer of product. Remember the more layers you use, the more attention you will call to the area.

Step Three: Mix Your Own Concealer

Do you have trouble finding a concealer that is the right shade for your skin? Does it seem like the concealers are all too light or too dark? The solution for you may be to mix two concealers into one to make your own perfect shade.

Step Four: Apply The Concealer

When you apply the concealer, remember three things. Apply in a thin layers. Try not to add more layers or the area will be more noticeable and work in the concealer precisely around the edges. The edges is where the product will be more noticeable.

Step Five: Treat Your Face Properly After The Event

After the big event, wash your face properly. Make sure you remove all your makeup, even the concealer. Then you should treat the pimple and the area around it with a sulfer based product. This will help the pimple dry up and heal quicker.

Warning:

Finally, one warning note of caution. Never squeeze at your pimple thinking this step will help decrease its size or help it to go away faster. All this squeezing will do is irritate the area, cause more redness to occur which can cause more attention to the area and possibly cause an infection to set in to the pimple.
