Create Home office economically
Creating your home office depends upon your budget, if you have a big budget then you can create best of home office. But instead you have limited money and lost your job, then you have to keep numerous things in your mind and make your office cost-effectively.
Office room
In these depression time when each and every dollar counts, you need to have a make shift office in your bed room or drawing room, which can be converted into its original position in the evening. If you have a spare room or a guest room, then it can also be used as an office room. You can also convert stairs case room or space between the stairs and the landing space behind the stairs, where you can put a table and few chairs and have your make shift office room.
Furniture - Home based office
Once the office room is decided then next logical step is furniture. You need not spend money for furniture right now at this moment. Instead have a make shift arrangement with your dinning chairs and a spare table. Have a neat and clean bed sheet or any other cover, which you can be put on your office table. You can use spare cupboard or part of it for your official purpose. You can also convert shoe stand for this purpose too, till you can effort to get regular office equipments.
Computer for your Home based office
If you have a PC or Laptop then it can be used for your home based office. One need not spend much on computer right now. You can get a second hand computer or get a computer on easy installments. While purchasing a computer take the best and the cheapest price prevailing in your market either from known computer vendor or well known computer vendor in your town. You should buy a computer, directly from the computer shop after bargaining well and taking number of quotation. Try to have free software, webcam, speakers, pen drive or any other peripherals that you can get free along with the computer.
Printer for your Home based office
Printer is an optional, you need not spend money on printer right now. You should try to get seconds, which are working well. Buy recycled printer cartridges. Check Google or your Yellow Pages for a local recycled printer cartridge supplier. Cut down cost on copies. Monitoring your use of copiers helps in saving on supplies and maintenance.
Printer Paper for your Home based office
It is always advisable at this global recession time to use one side printer paper, which serves a good as a new printer paper.
Energy efficient systems
You should use CFL (Compact Fluorescent lamps) for your office as well as at home for energy efficiency. When you are not in your office or in the lunch time ,you should always put off the lights, fan and AC, to save energy. Save electricity by turning off the coffee maker in your break room, pour the fresh coffee into a large thermos instead.
Buy used equipment

Telephone or Fax machine for your Home based office
Use home telephone if you don't have spare one. Inform your friends and relatives to contact you after office hours for personnel talk. In the office hour your home telephone can be utilized for official purpose. But if you have a spare telephone then it can be rightly utilize for your office purpose. You can use a public fax machine , with an arrangement to deliver your messages on payment. Similarly you can use the same fax machine for sending your messages too.
The bottom line is that for creating a home based office you have to be very reasonable and cost- effective, so that every penny can be saved for future utilization.

Thank you for the great information, I am sure this will help anyone starting out. Right now I am using a quarter of my kitchen as my office. I have the kitchen table an office chair and a large bookshelf - works very well, but i can't wait to have a room dedicated to my home office.
